"Some journeys begin long before the suitcase is packed — in a daydream, a photo, or a childhood wish." - Unknown
Every great story starts with a spark — and for me, Lake Como had long flickered in the back of my mind like a scene from a film. Romantic villas, winding cobbled streets, pastel houses hugging the shoreline, and that serene blue lake reflecting it all. It was a place I’d seen in postcards and Pinterest boards, a destination whispered between travellers like a well-kept secret. But now, it was finally real.
This trip wasn’t planned to perfection, and that was kind of the point. After the tightly packed, nervous energy of my first Asia trip earlier this year (more on that soon), I wanted this one to be different. Looser. Lighter. A little more “let’s see what happens.” With a close friend by my side and a few must-sees in mind, I set off not just for a holiday, but for a story waiting to be written.
Expect ferry rides that didn’t go quite to plan, unexpected cafés that offered little moments of joy, and villas that made me feel like I’d stepped into my childhood dream of running a hotel. Expect pizza, sunsets, and more than one moment of awe. But also expect detours, delays, and the kind of travel lessons that don’t come from guidebooks.
This is the tale of my Lake Como adventure — told in chapters, with a touch of honesty, a hint of chaos, and a whole lot of wonder.
