📍 Location

Master Bao is tucked inside the bustling Stratford Westfield food court, making it an easy stop during a shopping trip or a quick casual meal.

Stratford Westfield is accessible directly from Stratford station and you can get there by:

  • 🚅Tube: Stratford Station (Central & Jubilee lines, DLR)

  • 🚗If driving, the Westfield car park is convenient but can be busy on weekends.

The food court is on the second floor of the mall.

🍴 The Food

I went for their meal deal (£12.80), which includes two baos and one side dish. You can upgrade with a premium side or a drink for a little extra.

  • Prawn Bao 🦐 – My favourite of the two! The marinated king prawns were juicy and full of flavour, perfectly balanced with the rich sauce.

  • Mr. Bao (Pork Bao) 🐖 – Generously filled with slow-braised pork. While the pork was slightly on the dry side, the sauce complemented it well and added depth.

  • Vegetarian Spring Rolls 🌱 – My side choice came with about six mini rolls, crispy and light yet full of flavour. A great portion size and ideal for sharing.

  • Peach Bubble Tea 🧋 – I opted for peach tea with popping peach bubbles. Refreshing, fruity, and a fun pairing with the savoury baos.

🤝 Service

Service at Master Bao is counter-style, in line with the food court setting. Ordering was quick and easy, helped by clear menu boards and staff who were both friendly and efficient; who even gave me some recommendations.

The queue moved at a steady pace, and I was able to place my order without much of a wait. After ordering, I returned to my table with my buzzer in hand, and my food was ready in about 10 minutes.

The smooth process made the whole experience feel hassle-free — ideal if you’re looking for a satisfying meal without spending ages waiting around.

🌆 Ambiance

As Master Bao is located in the heart of a bustling food court, the atmosphere is casual and lively - very much the vibe of a busy shopping centre. At peak times, it can take a few minutes to secure a table, but outside of lunch and dinner rush hours, you’ll usually find a spot without much trouble.

The upside of the food court setting is the variety: if you’re visiting with friends who fancy different cuisines, there are plenty of stalls nearby to mix and match from. Perfect for something tasty and convenient while soaking in the energy of Westfield.

🌕 Reflection 🫶

Master Bao delivers on flavour and value. The meal deal felt worth the price, with good portion sizes and tasty variety. The prawn bao stood out as a must-try, and the spring rolls were an unexpected highlight. While the pork bao could have been a touch juicier, the sauces balanced things out nicely.

Would I go back? Absolutely. Master Bao is a solid choice if you’re craving baos in Stratford and want something quick, tasty, and satisfying.
