✨ First Impressions
Stepping into the Grand Hyatt Jeju, there’s no denying the “wow” factor. The grand lobby, high ceilings, and overall design give off the vibe of a modern, high-end resort. However, the welcome felt more reserved than warm.
The check-in process could’ve been smoother — signage was unclear, and no help was offered with our luggage, which was surprising for a hotel of this calibre. The hotel looks like a five-star experience, but it didn’t always feel like one.
🛌 Room Features – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We were delighted to receive a complimentary room upgrade — and it truly made our stay. The room was the clear standout: incredibly spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows that framed stunning views of the city skyline and distant mountains. Thoughtfully designed, the space had a calming, intuitive layout featuring a plush bed, cosy seating (including both a sofa and an armchair), a dining table, and a separate toilet area. Small but considerate details like complimentary bottled water added to the experience. While some of the furniture was fixed in place — limiting how much we could adjust the layout — the overall design felt sleek, restful, and elegant. It really did feel like a serene retreat in the clouds.
📍 Location – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Location-wise, the hotel is a win. Just a 10–15 minute drive from Jeju Airport by car, it’s ideal for a short stay or transit point. Though you won’t find major tourist attractions within walking distance, the surrounding area has plenty of local eateries, bakeries, a convenient Lotte Mart, and the Lotte Department store nearby which is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. It’s a great base if you plan to explore Jeju by car or taxi.
🧼 Cleanliness – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Cleanliness was largely up to par. The room and shared spaces were well-kept, and daily housekeeping was reliable. However, there were a couple of drawbacks: some towels had a strong bleach smell, and the carpeted bathroom floor was a bit odd and not the most hygienic choice. Still, the overall standard was clean and comfortable.
🍽️ Food & Drink – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hotel boasts a wide variety of restaurants, including the Pocha Bar, which offers reasonably priced options. Ordering room service was incredibly easy — simply scan the QR code and choose from a well-rounded menu. We chose the fried chicken and bao buns. The food arrived quickly, and collection was seamless once we called. Portions were generous, and everything we tried was delicious.

We also had dinner at the 38th-floor restaurant, which was one of the highlights. Dining in Jeju’s tallest tower with sweeping views of the city created a memorable experience. Friendly service, hearty portions, and a spectacular sunset made for a lovely evening. The food was flavourful and fairly priced, though the pancakes were a little on the oily side. For a more refined experience, the neighbouring steakhouse might be worth considering.

Tip✨: Time your visit for sunset — the café views are absolutely unforgettable!
One evening, we sat in the lobby lounge, which was filled with plush seating and a relaxed ambience. You could order drinks or desserts straight from the tablet, which made things super convenient. I tried the Dream Latte—beautifully presented with creamy swirls, though a bit too strong for me as someone who’s not big on coffee. My mum helped me finish it off—definitely one for the coffee lovers!

🤝 Service – ⭐⭐⭐
This is where the experience fell a little short of expectations. While the staff were professional and polite, the overall service felt distant rather than genuinely attentive.
As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the grandeur of the lobby — sleek, spacious, and beautifully designed. But despite the elegant first impression, we quickly found ourselves standing around, unsure of where to go. It got a bit awkward. The concierge team was at their desk with no guests in front of them, yet none of them looked up. It didn’t feel like they were too busy — more like they were deliberately avoiding eye contact.
I get that with so many guests roaming around, they might be trying not to overwhelm people with attention. But we had large suitcases and probably looked a little lost, so it felt odd not to be acknowledged. Thankfully, someone behind the bellhop counter noticed us and kindly pointed us in the right direction.
Check-in was efficient, and they even wished my mum a happy birthday, which was a nice touch. What surprised us was that no one offered to assist with our luggage afterwards, especially considering we had large suitcases and this is a five-star hotel. It’s something you’d usually expect as part of the experience, so the absence stood out. The security presence felt more watchful than welcoming — a sentiment that was reinforced by an awkward encounter on our departure day.
As we waited, our taxi driver arrived and began loading our bags. Suddenly, a security staff member stormed out and launched into what looked like a heated exchange in Korean with our driver. He then stomped back inside in a visible huff. Our driver reassured us everything was fine — perhaps external taxis aren’t meant to collect guests directly from the entrance. Still, the security guard’s attitude felt unnecessarily aggressive, especially toward someone older. Maybe I’ve watched too many K-dramas, but I expected a bit more grace and respect.
That said, other staff around the hotel — particularly in room service, the restaurant, and the spa — were genuinely friendly and warm, which softened the overall impression.
Given the hotel’s five-star status, I came in with high expectations. And while much of the experience was enjoyable, moments like this stood out more sharply as a result.
🛎️ Facilities – ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Facilities are where Grand Hyatt Jeju truly shines. The indoor pool is massive, and the two jacuzzis (indoor and outdoor) offer both space and serenity. The gym is large and well-equipped, and there’s a range of dining options, lounges, and even a 24-hour convenience store for snacks and essentials. Everything felt thoughtfully designed for a comfortable, high-end stay.
Note📝: The indoor jacuzzi was a standout — spacious enough to feel relaxing even when shared with other guests. But remember to check out the outdoor spa too.
✨ Final Verdict
Grand Hyatt Jeju delivers a luxurious setting with unbeatable room comfort and standout facilities. It is probably the prettiest hotel I’ve stayed at. However, the service and hospitality don’t quite meet five-star expectations. That said, if you value premium amenities and a well-located base near the airport, this hotel is 🌿 Worth a Wander.
Would I stay again? Yes — but with adjusted expectations on service.
